Transformational Couples Work and the Brain Science Behind It
Nancy will describe why and how Imago, Hedy Schleifer's Encounter-centered Couples Therapy, Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy and EMDR are all models that can lead to "memory reconsolidation." Memory reconsolidation is a relatively new and well researched neuroscientific discovery in unlocking the emotional brain so that profound and transformational healing can take place for our clients.
Nancy Hyatt, LISCW has been helping couples transform their partnerships for over 20 years. In addition to being an Advanced Imago Therapist and Vice President of the Mid-Atlantic Imago Chapter, she is also EMDR certified and recently completed a three year Master Class with Hedy Schleifer in Encounter-centered Couples Therapy. She has a unique and powerful way of integrating her trauma work with her couples therapy expertise to help couples who suffer from traumatic histories. Teleclass Overview: Ever wonder why desire seems to come and go, ebbing and flowing within your relationship and with your mood? Why is it that some people can reach multiple orgasm and yet others struggle with Erectile Dysfunction, Premature Ejaculation or have difficulty feeling turned on? What is it about sex that makes some behaviors like pornography, infidelity, or masturbation so compulsive and hard to control? Have you ever had a glimpse of something greater, something bigger when you were making love and wondered if sex was a path to the divine?
WEEK ONE - The Energetics of Sex- What it means to transform desire, redirecting your erotic energy toward passion and the pursuit of a perfect partnership - and your own levels of physical awakening
WEEK TWO - Transforming Orgasm; Multiple Levels of Connection and Awakening in the Body, Mind, Spirit and Erotic Being
WEEK THREE - Leaving Addiction and Compulsion behind; The true Seduction and Power of Eroticism and the Powerful Hook of Pleasure in the Brain
WEEK FOUR - Partnership as a Gateway to Spirituality; The Multiple Kundalini Experience that leads to Heightened Awareness and Connection - our Path the Source and to our Own Light
This course will address eroticism and desire and the many levels of sexual healing - physical, emotional, spiritual and the higher dimension I call transformational sexuality.
Over the four weeks will talk about how sex can lead us to a greater transcendence - not just as an intellectual process, and not just in our genitals. Sex with another person increases and challenges four types (or windows) of trust, which we will talk about in this class. We will also cover several different forms of orgasmic experiences - and how to choose as sexual partner that is right for you or ways to transform your current relationship into a more erotic and alive partnership.
